Ingredients
- 1 lb mushrooms, sliced
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Preparation:
Begin by washing the mushrooms thoroughly under cold water. Pat them dry with a paper towel before slicing them evenly. Thinly slice the onion and set aside.
2. Sautéing Onions and Mushrooms:
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté for about 3-5 minutes until they become translucent and slightly caramelized.
3. Adding Mushrooms:
Increase the heat to medium-high and add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Cook for another 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms release their juices and become golden brown. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper to enhance the flavors.
4. Incorporating Wine and Worcestershire Sauce:
Pour in the white wine and Worcestershire sauce. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 3-4 minutes, letting the alcohol evaporate and the sauce reduce.
5. Creating the Cream Sauce:
Reduce the heat to low and gently stir in the sour cream. Mix well until the sauce is smooth and the ingredients are fully combined. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, ensuring the sauce is heated throughout.
6. Finishing Touches:
Remove the skillet from the heat. Taste and adjust the seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and chives just before serving.
