Epic Grilled Cheese Extravaganza
Ingredients
- 8 slices of sandwich bread of your choice (Brioche, Ciabatta Rolls, Texas Toast, or Sourdough)
- 4 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 slices provolone
- 4 slices gouda
- 4 slices mozzarella
- 4 slices bacon, cooked until crispy
- 4 slices ham
- 1/2 cup sautéed onions
- 1/2 cup sautéed mushrooms
- 1 fresh tomato, thinly sliced
- 8 slices pickles
- A few dashes of Tabasco sauce
- Pinch of red pepper flakes
- 8-10 jalapeño slices
Instructions
1. Prepare the Bread
Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread, then sprinkle a light dusting of garlic powder over the buttered side. This will provide a delicious garlic-infused crust once toasted.
2. Assemble the Sandwiches
Choose 4 slices of buttered bread and place them buttered-side down on a clean surface or cutting board. Layer 1 slice each of cheddar, provolone, gouda, and mozzarella on top of these slices.
3. Add the Fillings
On top of the cheese layers, add 1 slice of cooked bacon and 1 slice of ham. Follow with a small portion of sautéed onions and mushrooms. Place 2-3 slices of fresh tomato and 2 slices of pickle on top. Drizzle a few dashes of Tabasco sauce and sprinkle a pinch of red pepper flakes for extra flavor. Add a few jalapeño slices to taste.
4. Top and Close
Place the remaining 4 slices of bread, buttered-side up, on top of each sandwich to close them.
5. Grill the Sandwiches
Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Carefully place the assembled sandwiches on the skillet, cooking two at a time if necessary. Maintain the heat so the bread browns evenly without burning, around 5 minutes per side.
6. Monitor the Cheese
Gently press down on the sandwiches with a spatula to ensure even cooking and help the cheeses melt together. Once the cheese has melted and both sides are golden brown, remove from the pan.
7. Serve Immediately
Cut each sandwich in half, serve immediately while hot and gooey, and enjoy the melty layers of cheese with savory fillings.
