Exquisite Oven-Roasted Spiced Chickpeas
Ingredients
- 2 cups canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C).
2. Prepare the chickpeas:
Place the drained and rinsed chickpeas between two layers of paper towels. Gently pat them dry to remove as much moisture as possible. Discard any loose skins.
3. Season the chickpeas:
In a mixing bowl, combine the chickpeas with olive oil. Toss well to ensure they are evenly coated.
4. Add spices:
Sprinkle the smoked paprika, ground cumin, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper over the chickpeas. Mix thoroughly to evenly distribute the spices.
5. Roast the chickpeas:
Spread the seasoned chickpeas on a baking sheet in a single layer. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for 25–30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to ensure even roasting. The chickpeas should be golden and crispy.
6. Cool and serve:
Once roasted, remove the chickpeas from the oven and allow them to cool for 5 minutes. Serve them warm, or store in an airtight container for a crunchy snack later.
