Garlic Herb Pan-Fried Chicken with Lemon Butter Sauce
Ingredients
- 4 (6 oz) boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 1 lemon, zested and juiced
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
1. Prepare the Chicken:
Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Season them evenly on both sides with salt and pepper.
2. Coat with Flour:
Place the flour in a shallow dish. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, shaking off any excess.
3. Pan-Fry the Chicken:
Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the butter is melted and sizzling, add the floured chicken breasts. Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
4. Prepare the Sauce:
Reduce the heat to medium. To the same skillet, add the minced garlic, thyme, and rosemary. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Stir in the lemon zest and juice, then pour in the chicken broth. Use a wooden spoon to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
5. Finish the Sauce:
Let the sauce simmer for about 3-4 minutes until reduced slightly. Stir in the heavy cream and allow it to cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce is slightly thickened.
6. Combine and Serve:
Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Allow the chicken to simmer for an additional 2 minutes to soak up the flavors. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
