Glazed Za'atar Honey Carrots: A Flavorful Stove-Top Sensation
Ingredients
- 1 pound carrots, peeled and cut into 2-inch sticks
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons oil (vegetable or olive oil)
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 teaspoons za’atar seasoning
- Pinch of salt (optional, to taste)
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Carrots
- Begin by peeling the carrots, then slice them into uniform 2-inch sticks to ensure even cooking.
2. Start Cooking
- In a large skillet, add the sliced carrots and 1 cup of water. Set the heat to medium-high and cover the skillet with a lid.
- Allow the carrots to steam for approximately PT10M (10 minutes) until they become tender but not too soft. You can check with a fork for doneness.
3. Create the Glaze
- Once the carrots are tender, remove the lid and let the remaining water evaporate.
- Add 2 tablespoons of oil to the skillet and increase the heat to high.
- Drizzle the 3 tablespoons of honey over the carrots, tossing them gently to ensure they are fully coated.
4. Add Za'atar
- Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of za’atar seasoning over the glazed carrots.
- Continue to cook for another PT5M (5 minutes), stirring frequently until the carrots start to caramelize slightly and develop a beautiful glaze.
5. Season and Serve
- If desired, add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors.
- Remove from heat and transfer the glazed carrots to a serving dish.
- Garnish with fresh parsley for an added touch of color and freshness.
6. Presentation
- Serve warm as a delightful side dish that pairs excellently with grilled meats or as a stand-alone vegetarian delight.
