Gluten-Free Cheez-It Crunch Snack
Ingredients
- 1 cup Cheez-It crackers, finely crushed
- 1 cup real cheese, shredded (Cheddar or your favorite variety)
- 1/2 cup gluten-free flour
- 1/2 teaspoon flaky salt
Instructions
1. Prepare the Oven and Baking Sheet
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup and set it aside.
2. Crush the Cheez-It Crackers
Using a food processor, pulse the Cheez-It crackers until they are finely crushed. Transfer the crushed crackers to a mixing bowl.
3. Mix the Dough
Add the shredded real cheese and gluten-free flour to the bowl with the crushed crackers. Mix until all the ingredients are well combined. The mixture should start to clump together and form a dough.
4. Shape the Snacks
Using a tablespoon, scoop out small portions of the dough and roll them into balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place each ball onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
5. Flatten and Season
Use the bottom of a glass or a flat spatula to gently flatten the dough balls into discs, approximately 1/4 inch thick. Sprinkle a small pinch of flaky salt over each disc for added flavor.
6. Bake
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges of each snack are golden brown and the cheese has melted.
7. Cool and Serve
Allow the snacks to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. These crunchy, cheesy delights are best served warm or at room temperature.
