Golden Butter Shortbread Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Prepare Cookie Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-4 minutes.
3. Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt until well combined.
4. Combine Ingredients:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing on low speed. Continue until the dough starts to come together and no streaks of flour remain.
5. Shape the Dough:
Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Use your hands to form it into a disk, then wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 15 minutes to make it easier to handle.
6. Roll and Cut the Dough:
Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use a cookie cutter to cut out desired shapes and transfer them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about an inch apart.
7. Bake the Cookies:
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges begin to turn golden.
8. Cool and Serve:
Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
