Golden Cinnamon-Sugar Twists



Ingredients



- 1 package (15 oz) of pie dough (enough for two 9-inch crusts)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions



1. Prep the Dough
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Remove pie dough from the refrigerator and allow it to soften slightly at room temperature, approximately 10 minutes.

2. Prepare the Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture
- In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Mix well and set aside.

3. Roll and Cut the Dough
- Lightly flour your work surface.
- Roll out each piece of pie dough into a rectangle, approximately 1/8-inch thick.
- With a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough into strips about 1-inch wide and 6-8 inches long.

4. Apply the Egg Wash
- Using a pastry brush, lightly brush each strip with the beaten egg.

5. Sprinkle with Cinnamon-Sugar
- Evenly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the egg-washed strips.

6. Twist the Strips
- Gently hold each end of a strip and twist in opposite directions to create a spiral.
- Repeat with the remaining strips.

7. Bake the Twists
- Arrange the twisted strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the twists are golden brown and crisp.

8. Cool and Serve
- Remove from the oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool for a few minutes.
