Hearty Ham and Cheddar Breakfast Skillet
Ingredients
- 4 slices of ham, diced
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 large tomato, diced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 4 slices bacon
- 4 large eggs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Optional: fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
1. Prepare Ingredients:
Begin by preparing all your ingredients. Dice the ham, tomato, and onion. Shred the cheddar cheese and set everything aside.
2. Cook Bacon:
In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. This should take about PT10M, 10 minutes. Once cooked, place the bacon on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease. After cooling, crumble the bacon into small pieces.
3. Sauté Onions:
In the same skillet, add the olive oil. Add the chopped onions and sauté over medium heat until they become translucent, about PT5M, 5 minutes.
4. Add Ham and Tomato:
Add the diced ham and tomato to the skillet with the onions. Cook for an additional PT3M, 3 minutes until the tomatoes soften slightly and the ham is warmed through.
5. Arrange and Cook Eggs:
Spread the ham, tomato, and onion mixture evenly across the skillet. Create small wells and crack an egg into each well. Reduce the heat to low and cover the skillet. Cook until the eggs are set to your preferred doneness, approximately PT6M*, 6 minutes for runny yolks or *PT10M, 10 minutes for firm yolks.
6. Add Cheese and Bacon:
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon over the eggs and vegetable mixture. Cover again for 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.
7. Serve:
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Optional: Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving. Serve immediately.
