Heavenly Almond Angel Cake with Triple Frosting Delight
Ingredients
- 1 ¾ cups cake flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ¾ cup salted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 6 large egg whites
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- 1 cup buttercream frosting
- 1 cup cream cheese frosting
- 1 cup ermine frosting
- ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk
- ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it's fully heated for baking.
2. Prepare the cake batter: In a large mixing bowl, sift together the cake flour and baking powder to remove any lumps. Set aside.
3. Cream the butter and sugar: Using an electric mixer, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together on medium speed until light and fluffy. This will take about 3-4 minutes.
4. Add flavoring and egg whites: Blend in the almond extract. Then, gradually add the egg whites one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition for a smooth texture.
5. Combine wet and dry ingredients: Alternately add the sifted flour mixture and buttermilk, beginning and ending with the flour. Mix on low speed until just combined, taking care not to overmix.
6. Prepare the egg white frosting: In a separate bowl, whisk the remaining egg whites with the cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Gradually add the sweetened condensed milk and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
7. Bake the cake: Grease and flour a 9x13 inch cake pan. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
8. Frost the cake: Once the cake has cooled, cut it into three even layers using a serrated knife. Spread a generous layer of buttercream frosting on the bottom layer, cream cheese frosting in the middle, and cover the top layer with the ermine frosting.
9. Decorate and serve: For an elegant finish, gently swirl the remaining egg white frosting with a spatula across the entire cake surface, creating peaks and valleys. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
