Heavenly Sugar-Crusted Pear Tart
Ingredients
- 1 cup Domino Baker's Sugar
- 3 large ripe pears, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1 store-bought or homemade pie crust, rolled out
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water)
Instructions
1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare Pie Crust: Roll out the pie crust to fit a 9-inch tart pan. Gently place it in the pan, pressing into the edges, and trim any overhang. Set aside.
3. Prepare Pear Filling: In a large bowl, combine the thinly sliced pears, 1/2 cup of Domino Baker's Sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt. Toss well until all pear slices are evenly coated.
4. Assemble the Tart: Arrange the coated pear slices evenly over the prepared crust, overlapping them slightly. Pour any remaining juice from the bowl over the pears.
5. Sugar Crust: In a small bowl, mix the remaining 1/2 cup of Domino Baker's Sugar with the melted butter. Drizzle this mixture evenly over the top of the pears.
6. Egg Wash: Lightly brush the crust edges with egg wash for a golden finish.
7. Bake: Place the tart on the middle rack of the preheated oven. Bake for 45 minutes or until the pears are tender and the crust is golden brown.
8. Cool and Serve: Allow the tart to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and serve.
