Herb-Infused Berry Sparkler with Smoky Blackberry Basil Bites
Ingredients
For the Herb-Infused Berry Sparkler:
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- 1/2 cup agave nectar
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup fresh mixed berries
- 2 cups sparkling wine
- 1 cup club soda
- 1/4 cup vodka
- 1/4 cup gin
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 1/2 teaspoon dried lavender
For the Smoky Blackberry Basil Bites:
- 1 cup fresh blackberries
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Herb-Infused Berry Sparkler
1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the lemon juice, agave nectar, water, and fresh mixed berries.
2. Add the rosemary sprigs and dried lavender. Allow to simmer, stirring occasionally, for about PT10M (10 minutes) until flavors meld.
3. Strain the mixture into a large serving pitcher. Discard the solids and let it cool to room temperature.
4. Once cooled, add the sparkling wine, club soda, vodka, and gin to the pitcher. Stir gently to combine.
5. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator while preparing the bites.
Step 2: Prepare the Smoky Blackberry Basil Bites
1. In a medium bowl, mash the blackberries with sugar, until you form a thick paste.
2. Add minced garlic, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, dried oregano, and season with salt and pepper. Mix well.
3. Gently fold in the chopped basil leaves to the blackberry mixture.
4. On the stove, heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, and add the mixture. Cook for about PT5M (5 minutes) until fragrant but not overly reduced.
5. Remove from the heat and let it cool slightly before serving.
Step 3: Assemble the Snack
1. Spoon the smoky blackberry mixture into serving spoons or onto small crackers for an elegant presentation.
