Herb-Infused Garlic Focaccia for the Perfect Snack

Ingredients

- 1/4 cup olive oil, plus extra for drizzling
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/3 cups warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

1. Prepare the Herb Oil:
In a small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup of olive oil with minced garlic, chopped rosemary, thyme leaves, and black pepper. Warm over low heat for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse. Once fragrant, remove from heat and set aside.

2. Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, mix warm water, instant yeast, and sugar. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

3. Mix the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and half of the herb-infused oil. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.

4. Knead the Dough:
Lightly flour a clean surface and knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

5. First Rise:
Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough inside, and cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm area until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.

6. Prepare for Baking:
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly oil a baking sheet or line with parchment paper. Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to the prepared sheet. Stretch out the dough into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.

7. Final Rise:
Cover the sheet with a clean towel and allow the dough to rise again for 20 minutes.

8. Prepare for Baking:
Using your fingers, gently press dimples into the surface of the dough. Drizzle with remaining herb-infused oil and a bit more olive oil over the top.

9. Bake the Focaccia:
Place in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until the focaccia is golden brown and crispy at the edges.

10. Cool and Serve:
Allow the focaccia to cool slightly on a wire rack. Cut into squares and serve warm.
