Iced Coffee Brew Bliss: A Stove-Top Delight
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup coffee beans
- 4 cups water
- Ice cubes (enough to fill glasses)
Instructions
1. Grind the Coffee Beans: Start by grinding 1/2 cup of coffee beans to a coarse consistency. Aim for a texture similar to sea salt for the best flavor extraction.
2. Boil Water: Pour 4 cups of water into a medium-sized saucepan. Place the saucepan on the stove over medium-high heat. Bring the water to a gentle boil, which should take around PT5M (5 minutes).
3. Brew the Coffee: Once the water boils, remove the saucepan from the heat to prevent over-extraction, then add the ground coffee to the hot water. Stir gently to ensure all the grounds are evenly saturated.
4. Let It Steep: Place a lid on the saucepan and let the coffee steep for PT4M (4 minutes). This duration extracts optimal flavor without making the coffee bitter.
5. Strain the Coffee: Using a fine mesh strainer or a cheesecloth placed over a large bowl, slowly pour the coffee mixture to remove the grounds, leaving you with pure brewed coffee. Be cautious to avoid burning yourself during this process.
6. Cool & Serve: Allow the freshly brewed coffee to cool to room temperature for PT10M (10 minutes). Then, fill serving glasses with ice cubes and pour the cooled coffee over them.
7. Final Touch: Optionally, garnish with a sprig of fresh mint or a slice of lemon for an aesthetic touch and subtle flavor enhancement.
