Irresistible Deep-Fried Apple Fritters with Spiced Sugar
Ingredients
- Dry Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar

Instructions
1. Prepare the Apples:
- Peel, core, and dice 2 Granny Smith apples. Set aside.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cardamom until well combined.
3. Combine Wet Ingredients:
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 3/4 cup of whole milk, 1 large egg, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
4. Create the Batter:
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. Do not overmix; the batter should be slightly lumpy.
- Gently fold in the diced apples.
5. Prepare for Frying:
- Heat oil in a deep pot or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
6. Fry the Fritters:
- Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown, flipping once during cooking.
