Irresistible Deep-Fried BBQ Potato Nuggets
Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes
- 3 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- 2 tablespoons barbecue seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked flavor
Instructions
1. Prep the Potatoes
- Peel and wash the potatoes thoroughly.
- Cut the potatoes into nugget-sized pieces, approximately 1-inch cubes for even cooking.
2. Season the Potatoes
- In a large bowl, combine barbecue seasoning, salt, sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, and smoked flavor. Mix well until fully blended.
- Add the potato pieces to the bowl and toss to evenly coat them with the seasoning mix. Let them rest for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
3. Prepare the Oil
- Pour the vegetable oil into a deep fryer or large, heavy-bottomed pot. Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure accurate temperature.
4. Deep Fry the Nuggets
- Once the oil is heated, carefully add the potato nuggets in batches to avoid overcrowding, which can lower the oil temperature.
- Fry each batch for about 5-6 minutes until the potatoes are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
5. Drain and Serve
- Remove the fried potato nuggets with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot, garnished with a sprinkle of additional barbecue seasoning if desired.
