Irresistible Sautéed Bacon Brussels Sprouts with Lemon
Ingredients
- 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Instructions
1. Prepare the Brussels Sprouts:
- Rinse the Brussels sprouts under cold water and pat dry with a kitchen towel.
- Trim the stem ends and cut each Brussels sprout in half lengthwise.
2. Cook the Bacon:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the chopped bacon.
- Sauté the bacon pieces until crispy and golden, about PT7M (7 minutes).
- Once done, use a slotted spoon to transfer the bacon to a plate lined with paper towels, leaving the bacon drippings in the skillet.
3. Sauté Brussels Sprouts:
- Add the butter to the skillet with the reserved bacon drippings over medium heat.
- When the butter is melted and bubbling, add the Brussels sprouts cut-side down in a single layer.
- Season with salt and black pepper.
- Allow the Brussels sprouts to cook undisturbed until they are crispy and browned on the cut side, about PT8M (8 minutes).
4. Combine and Finish:
- Stir the Brussels sprouts gently, add the crispy bacon, and sauté together for another PT3M (3 minutes) to blend the flavors.
- Drizzle with fresh lemon juice and stir well to combine.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
5. Serve:
- Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy as a delightful dinner side.
