2. Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar. Stir well to dissolve the sugar slightly before heating.
3. Simmer the Syrup: Place the saucepan on the stove over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the mixture begins to simmer, allowing the sugar to completely dissolve. This should take approximately 5 minutes.
