3. Create Glaze:
- Reduce the heat to a medium setting.
- Add 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1/4 cup of packed brown sugar, and 3 tablespoons of maple syrup to the saucepan with the carrots.
- Stir the mixture gently until the butter and sugar have melted completely and are well combined.

4. Thicken and Flavor:
- Continue cooking the carrots in the glaze for PT10M (10 minutes), stirring occasionally.
- Wait until the glaze thickens slightly and coats the carrots evenly.

5. Season and Serve:
- Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper over the glazed carrots.
- Stir to ensure even seasoning.
- Remove from heat and serve hot, garnishing with a sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper if desired for added flavor.
