Matcha Pistachio Delight Dessert
Ingredients
- 1 cup raw pistachios
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon matcha powder
- 4 whole eggs
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup whipping cream
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Set your oven to 325°F (163°C) to preheat while you prepare the ingredients.
2. Prepare Pistachio Mixture:
- Place 1 cup of raw pistachios in a food processor. Grind them until they form a coarse powder. Be careful not to grind too finely; you want some texture.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the ground pistachios and 2 cups of heavy cream.
- Stir the mixture continuously for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to amalgamate. Ensure it doesn’t come to a boil.
3. Combine Dry Ingredients:
- In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together 1 tablespoon of matcha powder, ¾ cup of sugar, and ¼ teaspoon of salt.
4. Mix Wet Ingredients:
- In another bowl, whisk 4 whole eggs with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until light and slightly frothy.
- Gradually add the matcha-sugar mixture to the eggs, whisking until fully incorporated.
5. Combine All Components:
- Slowly pour the pistachio-cream mixture into the egg-matcha mixture, gently stirring to combine all the ingredients smoothly.
6. Prepare for Baking:
- Pour the combined mixture into a baking dish. Place this dish in a larger baking pan.
- Pour hot water into the larger pan until it reaches halfway up the sides of the baking dish (this water bath ensures gentle, even cooking).
7. Bake the Dessert:
- Carefully transfer both pans to the oven. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the center is set and jiggles slightly when moved.
8. Chill and Whip Cream:
- Allow the baked dessert to cool at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until thoroughly chilled.
- Just before serving, whip 1 cup of cold whipping cream until soft peaks form.
9. Serve:
- Slice the chilled matcha pistachio dessert into portions and serve with a dollop of freshly whipped cream on top.
