Mixed Berry Bread Pudding Delight
Ingredients
- 1 cup frozen mixed berries, thawed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 6 slices white sandwich bread, crusts removed and cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup fresh berries, for garnish
Instructions
1. Prep the Berries:
In a medium saucepan over medium heat on the stove, combine the thawed mixed berries with granulated sugar. Stir occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely and the berries release their juices, about PT5M (5 minutes).
2. Prepare the Bread:
Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl, place the cubed white sandwich bread.
3. Combine Berries and Bread:
Pour the warm berry mixture over the cubed bread, ensuring the bread is evenly coated with the berry juices. Lightly press down on the bread with a spatula to help it absorb the mixture.
4. Simmer the Mixture:
Reduce the stove heat to low. Transfer the berry-soaked bread back to the saucepan. Cook gently, stirring occasionally, until the bread begins to break down and incorporate fully with the berries, approximately PT10M (10 minutes).
5. Garnish and Serve:
Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Serve warm or at room temperature, garnished with fresh berries for added texture and flavor.
