Oven-Baked Cinnamon Pear Delight with Vanilla Ice Cream
Ingredients
- 4 ripe pears, halved and cored
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- A pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 pint vanilla ice cream
- Whipped cream, for serving
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Prepare the Pears: Wash and halve the pears. Remove the cores using a melon baller or a spoon to make a small cavity for the sugar mixture.
3. Mix the Spices: In a small bowl, combine the ground cinnamon, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt. Stir until evenly mixed.
4. Season the Pears: Place the pear halves, cut-side up, in a baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the pears, ensuring each cavity is filled.
5. Bake the Pears: Cover the dish loosely with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes, or until the pears are tender when pierced with a fork.
6. Whip the Cream: While the pears are baking, pour the heavy cream into a mixing bowl. Add the confectioners' sugar and whisk or beat with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
7. Serve: Remove the pears from the oven when done, allowing them to cool slightly. Place two pear halves on each dessert plate. Scoop vanilla ice cream beside the pears on each plate. Top with a dollop of whipped cream. Serve warm.
