Oven-Baked Cinnamon Sugar Butter Puff Pastry Twists
Ingredients
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 1/2 cup Kerrygold Cinnamon & Sugar Butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C), ensuring it is hot enough to quickly puff and crisp the pastry.
2. Prepare your workstation by lightly dusting a clean surface with flour to prevent sticking.
3. Unfold the puff pastry sheets on the floured surface and gently roll them out with a rolling pin to smooth any creases. Aim for a thickness of about 1/4-inch.
4. Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl until evenly combined.
5. Spread 1/4 cup of Kerrygold Cinnamon & Sugar Butter evenly over each puff pastry sheet, leaving about a 1/2-inch border around the edges.
6. Sprinkle half of the sugar and cinnamon mixture over each buttered puff pastry sheet, spreading it evenly.
7. Cut each sheet into 1-inch wide strips using a sharp knife or pizza cutter. You should have about 10 strips per sheet.
8. Make the twists by gently twisting each strip a few times, keeping the butter-sugar side inside.
9. Place the twists on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Leave some space between each twist to allow for expansion.
10. Brush the egg wash lightly over each twist, which will provide a golden, glossy finish.
11. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
12. Remove from the oven and allow twists to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
