Oven-Baked Glazed Ham with Apple Honey Mustard Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 pre-cooked ham (approximately 5 pounds)
- 1 cup apple juice
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
Instructions
1. Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
2. Prepare Ham
Place the pre-cooked ham in a roasting pan. Score the surface in a criss-cross pattern, about 1/4 inch deep. This allows the glaze to penetrate the ham fully.
3. Make the Glaze
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the apple juice, water, brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, black pepper, and ground allspice. Stir well to combine.
4. Reduce the Glaze
Bring the mixture to a simmer, and cook for about 10 minutes until it thickens slightly, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Remove from heat.
5. Apply the Glaze
Brush the glaze generously over the ham, ensuring it gets into the scored sections. Cover loosely with aluminum foil.
6. Bake the Ham
Place the ham in the preheated oven. Bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes, basting with the glaze every 20 minutes. Remove the foil for the last 20 minutes of cooking to allow the glaze to caramelize.
7. Rest and Serve
Once the ham is cooked through and the glaze has formed a sticky, golden crust, remove it from the oven. Let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
