Oven-Baked Peach Delight
Ingredients
- 4 ripe peaches
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/4 cup sugar
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Allow it to fully preheat while you prepare the peaches.
2. Prepare the Peaches:
- Rinse the peaches thoroughly under cool running water. Pat them dry using a clean kitchen towel.
- Carefully slice each peach in half and remove the pits. You may peel them if preferred, but leaving the skin can add texture.
3. Create the Lemon-Sugar Mixture:
- In a small mixing bowl, combine the 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and 1/4 cup of sugar. Stir well until the sugar is mostly dissolved.
- Add a pinch of salt into the mixture to balance the sweetness and enhance the peach flavor.
4. Coat the Peaches:
- Place the peach halves in a shallow baking dish, cut side up.
- Generously brush or drizzle the lemon-sugar mixture over the top of each peach. Ensure they are evenly coated.
5. Bake the Peaches:
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven. Bake for approximately 25 minutes until the peaches are tender and the sugar forms a light syrup.
- If desired, broil the peaches for an additional 2-3 minutes to caramelize the tops, but watch closely to prevent burning.
6. Serve:
- Carefully remove the baking dish from the oven. Allow the peaches to cool slightly.
- Serve the baked peaches warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
