Oven-Baked Savory French Onion Rice
Ingredients
- 1 cup long grain white rice
- 10.5 oz can condensed French onion soup
- 10.5 oz can beef broth
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to get it ready for baking.
2. Prepare the Baking Dish: Take a medium-sized oven-safe baking dish. This will be used to ensure even cooking of the rice.
3. Combine Rice and Liquids: In the baking dish, pour 1 cup of long grain white rice. Add the entire can of condensed French onion soup and the can of beef broth to the rice. Stir gently to mix the liquids evenly with the rice grains.
4. Add Butter: Cut 1/4 cup of unsalted butter into small cubes and scatter them over the rice mixture. This will enhance the richness and flavor of the dish as it melts during baking.
5. Cover and Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil to trap steam and ensure the rice cooks evenly. Place the covered dish in the preheated oven.
6. Bake: Bake for 1 hour. Check that the rice is tender and has absorbed all the liquid. If necessary, continue baking for an additional 5-10 minutes.
7. Rest and Serve: Once fully cooked, remove the dish from the oven and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes. This resting period allows the rice to finish absorbing any remaining liquid. Fluff with a fork before serving.
