Oven-Baked Sesame Miso Salmon with Parmesan and Crispy Onion Topping
Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets (approximately 6 ounces each)
- 3 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons miso paste
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1/4 cup crispy fried onions
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1/2 cup wood chips (for smoking, optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). If you are using wood chips for smoking, soak them in water for at least 15 minutes, then drain and spread them on a foil-lined baking sheet.
2. Prepare the Miso Marinade
In a small bowl, combine the miso paste and milk. Stir until smooth and well-blended.
3. Marinate the Salmon
Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the miso marinade generously over the top of each fillet.
4. Add the Toppings
Sprinkle sesame seeds, grated Parmesan cheese, and crispy fried onions evenly over the marinated surface of each salmon fillet.
5. Bake the Salmon
Place the baking tray in the preheated oven. If using the wood chips for a smoky flavor, place the tray of soaked wood chips on the lower rack. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
6. Garnish and Serve
Remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro before serving.
