Oven-Roasted Paprika Chicken
Ingredients
- 4 lbs whole chicken, cleaned and patted dry
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C).
2. Prepare the Spice Mix:
In a small bowl, combine paprika, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
3. Season the Chicken:
Place the chicken on a large baking tray lined with parchment paper. Drizzle olive oil over the chicken and rub it evenly across the surface, ensuring it is well-coated.
4. Apply Spice Rub:
Generously apply the spice mix over the entire chicken, covering all surfaces, including under the wings and inside the cavity for maximum flavor infusion.
5. Truss the Chicken (Optional):
For even cooking, use kitchen twine to tie the legs together.
6. Roast the Chicken:
Place the seasoned chicken in the preheated oven. Roast for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) when measured at the thickest part of the thigh. Baste the chicken with its own juices halfway through cooking for added moisture and flavor.
7. Rest the Chicken:
