Oven-Roasted Sesame-Crusted Salmon with Green Onions
Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 3 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
- 6 green onions, chopped
Instructions
1. Preheat Your Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) to ensure it is thoroughly heated by the time you are ready to cook.
2. Prepare the Salmon
Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. This helps achieve a nice crispy skin.
3. Season the Fillets
Brush each salmon fillet with a thin layer of olive oil. Sprinkle evenly with salt and freshly ground black pepper on all sides.
4. Coat with Sesame Seeds
Place the toasted sesame seeds on a large plate. Gently press each salmon fillet into the sesame seeds to evenly coat the tops.
5. Roast the Salmon
Arrange the sesame-coated salmon fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly greased foil to prevent sticking. Place the baking sheet in the center of the preheated oven.
6. Cooking Time
Roast the salmon fillets for 12 to 15 minutes or until they reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) and the flesh flakes easily with a fork. For a more well-cooked texture, roast for an additional 2-3 minutes.
7. Add the Green Onions
During the last 3 minutes of cooking, sprinkle the chopped green onions over the salmon, allowing them to soften and release their flavors.
8. Rest and Serve
Remove the salmon from the oven and allow it to rest for about 5 minutes. This helps the juices settle, ensuring a moist fillet. Serve warm with your choice of side dish.
