Oven-Roasted Spiced Chickpea Snack
Ingredients
- 2 cans (15 oz each) of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C).
2. Prepare the Chickpeas
After draining and rinsing the chickpeas, spread them on a clean kitchen towel. Pat them dry, removing as much moisture as possible to ensure a crispy finish.
3. Season the Chickpeas
In a large mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, smoked paprika, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Add the dried chickpeas to the bowl and toss until they are thoroughly coated with the spice mixture.
4. Arrange for Baking
Spread the seasoned chickpeas evenly on a baking sheet. Make sure they are in a single layer to promote even roasting.
5. Roast the Chickpeas
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Roast the chickpeas for 35 to 40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to ensure they cook evenly. Keep an eye on them during the last 10 minutes to prevent burning.
6. Cool and Serve
