Pan-Fried Albacore Tuna Melt with Celery and Red Onion
Ingredients
- 12 oz Albacore tuna (canned or fresh)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup red onion, finely diced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup vegetable broth
- 1 tablespoon water
- 8 slices of white bread
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
1. Prepare the Tuna Mixture
- Drain the albacore tuna entirely and place it into a mixing bowl.
- Add mayonnaise, celery, red onion, and salt to the bowl.
- Use a fork to gently mix all the ingredients together until well incorporated.
2. Prepare the Bread
- Lay out the slices of white bread on a flat surface.
- Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice. This will help create a crispy texture when pan-fried.
3. Assemble the Sandwiches
- On the unbuttered side of one slice of bread, spread approximately 2 tablespoons of the tuna mixture.
- Top with another slice of bread, ensuring the buttered sides of both slices are facing outwards.
4. Pan-Fry the Sandwiches
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Add the vegetable broth and water to the skillet and let it heat slightly before placing the sandwiches.
- Carefully place the sandwiches into the skillet and let them cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and crisp.
5. Serve and Enjoy
- Once the sandwiches are done, remove them from the skillet.
- Allow to cool slightly, then slice each sandwich in half.
- Serve warm and enjoy your delightful pan-fried tuna melt!
