Ingredients



For the Biscuits:

- 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Instructions



1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

2. Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and powdered sugar.

3. Incorporate Fats:
- Cut in the shortening and unsalted butter using a pastry cutter or your fingertips until the mixture forms pea-sized crumbles.

4. Add Wet Ingredients:
- Stir in the buttermilk and beaten egg, mixing just until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overmix.

5. Roll Out the Dough:
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead it a few times to bring it together, then roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness.
