Perfectly Fluffy Stovetop Rice Pilaf
Ingredients
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Rinse the Rice:
Start by rinsing 1 cup of long-grain white rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps to remove excess starch and prevent the rice from becoming sticky during cooking.
2. Prepare the Saucepan:
In a medium-sized saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the rinsed rice to the pan.
3. Toast the Rice:
Stir the rice gently in the melted butter for about 3-4 minutes, or until the rice grains become slightly translucent and fragrant. This step adds a nutty flavor to the rice.
4. Boil Water:
Meanwhile, in a separate pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
5. Combine Ingredients:
Pour the boiling water over the rice in the saucepan carefully. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt and stir to combine the ingredients.
6. Cook the Rice:
Increase the heat to high and bring the rice mixture to a rolling boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, and let the rice simmer for 15 minutes.
7. Steam and Fluff:
After 15 minutes, turn off the heat and let the rice sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes to steam. Then, remove the lid and gently fluff the rice with a fork to separate the grains.
8. Serve:
Serve the rice pilaf as a delicious side dish for dinner. Enjoy!
