Pork Sausage and Cheddar Bites

Ingredients

- 1 pound pork sausage
- 2 cups Bisquick mix
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened

Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare it for baking the sausage bites.

2. Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the pork sausage until it is browned and fully cooked through, about 10 minutes. Use a spoon to break it into crumbles. Once cooked, drain any excess fat and allow the sausage to cool slightly.

3. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the Bisquick mix, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix well to evenly distribute the cheese and seasonings.

4. Incorporate Cream Cheese: Add the softened cream cheese to the dry mixture. Using your hands or a sturdy spatula, mix until the cream cheese is thoroughly incorporated and the mixture forms a sticky dough-like consistency.

5. Mix in Sausage: Add the slightly cooled sausage to the mixture. Continue to mix until the sausage is evenly distributed throughout the dough.

6. Form the Bites: Using your hands, shape the mixture into 1-inch balls. Place each ball onto an ungreased baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced about 1 inch apart.

7. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the bites are golden brown and firm to the touch.

8. Cool and Serve: Allow the sausage bites to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a serving platter. Serve warm and enjoy!
