Refreshing Mint Julep Delight
Ingredients
- 2 oz Woodford Reserve Bourbon
- 10 fresh mint leaves
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 oz water
- Crushed ice, enough to fill a serving glass
Instructions
1. Prepare the Mint Infusion:
In a small saucepan, combine 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 oz of water. Set the stove to medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar completely dissolves to create a simple syrup. This will take approximately 3 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.
2. Muddle the Mint:
In a sturdy glass or shaker, place the fresh mint leaves. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press and twist the mint leaves to release their essential oils. The goal is to bruise the leaves, not tear them.
3. Mix the Ingredients:
Add the cooled simple syrup and Woodford Reserve Bourbon to the glass with the mint. Stir gently to combine and infuse the flavors.
4. Prepare the Serving Glass:
Fill a serving glass with crushed ice to the brim. This will keep the drink perfectly chilled.
5. Pour and Garnish:
Strain the mint and bourbon mixture over the crushed ice in the serving glass. Garnish with a sprig of mint for a touch of freshness and aroma.
