Ingredients
- 8 large Italian tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons Mediterranean sea salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to preheat thoroughly while you prepare the tomatoes.
2. Prepare the Tomatoes: Wash and dry the Italian tomatoes. Slice each tomato in half horizontally and arrange them cut side up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
3. Season the Tomatoes: Drizzle the olive oil evenly over the tomatoes. Sprinkle the Mediterranean sea salt, dried basil, dried oregano, and freshly ground black pepper across the tops of the tomato halves.
4. Add Garlic and Cheese: Distribute the minced garlic over the tomatoes, ensuring each half receives a bit of garlic. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
5. Roast the Tomatoes: Place the baking sheet on the middle rack of the preheated oven and roast for 45 minutes. The tomatoes should become tender and slightly caramelized with the cheese melting and browning gently.
6. Garnish and Serve: Once done, remove the tomatoes from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
