Sautéed Onion Delight with Thyme and Balsamic Glaze



Ingredients


- 4 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves (or 1 teaspoon dried thyme)
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions


1. Prepare the Ingredients: Peel and thinly slice the onions. Set aside the remaining ingredients for easy access.
2. Heat the Pan: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat until the butter is melted and starts to bubble slightly.
3. Sauté the Onions: Add the sliced onions to the skillet. Stir to coat them evenly in the oil and butter. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
4. Cook the Onions: Sauté the onions over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until they become soft and begin to caramelize. This should take about 15-20 minutes.
5. Add Flavor: Once the onions are caramelized, add the fresh thyme, stirring it into the onion mixture.
6. Glaze the Onions: Increase the heat to medium-high. Add the balsamic vinegar and honey. Stir well while cooking for an additional 3-5 minutes, allowing the glaze to thicken and coat the onions.
7. Final Stir: Remove from heat. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve warm as a side or topping.
