Sautéed Shrimp with Garlic Lime Butter and Fresh Herbs
Ingredients
- 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lime, zested and juiced
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 4 green onions, sliced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Prepare the Shrimp
Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. In a bowl, combine shrimp with 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, and lime zest. Rest for 5 minutes to absorb flavors.
2. Make the Garlic Lime Butter
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add minced garlic and lime juice. Gently simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring regularly, until fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside.
3. Sauté the Shrimp
In a large skillet, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Add shrimp in a single layer. Sauté for 2-3 minutes on each side or until the shrimp are pink and opaque. Be cautious not to overcook.
4. Combine the Elements
Reduce heat to low. Pour the prepared garlic lime butter over the sautéed shrimp. Stir in chopped cilantro, ground coriander, sliced green onions, and the remaining salt and black pepper.
5. Finalize and Serve
Toss everything together gently to coat the shrimp in the aromatic butter mixture for another 1-2 minutes. Serve immediately, garnished with extra cilantro and lime wedges on the side.
