Savory Garlic & Pepper Olive Oil Dip
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 3 cloves Garlic, finely minced
- 1/2 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
- 1 teaspoon Paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 2 tablespoons Balsamic Vinegar
Instructions
1. Prepare the Garlic:
- Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves. Ensure the pieces are small to enhance the flavor and avoid overwhelming chunks in the oil.
2. Heat the Oil:
- Place a small saucepan over medium heat. Add 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil.
- Let the oil heat gently for about 1 minute, which allows it to warm up without reaching a smoking point.
3. Infuse with Garlic:
- Add the minced garlic to the warm oil. Stir gently to ensure the garlic is evenly dispersed. Cook for about 3 minutes, or until the garlic becomes soft and fragrant. Be cautious not to brown the garlic as it can turn bitter.
4. Add Spices:
- Sprinkle in 1/2 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes, 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper.
- Stir the mixture continuously for another 2 minutes, allowing the spices to blend together and infuse the oil.
5. Incorporate Balsamic Vinegar:
- Remove the saucepan from heat and add 2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar. Stir well to combine all the ingredients. The vinegar will add a tangy depth to the dip, balancing the heat from the red pepper flakes.
6. Cool and Serve:
- Let the mixture cool down to room temperature for about 10 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
- Serve in a shallow dish, perfect for dipping crusty bread or drizzling over fresh vegetables.
