Savory Oven-Baked Cheese Crisps
Ingredients
- 2 cups Cultured milk (prepared into cheese)
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Enzymes (from the cheese-making process)
- 1/2 teaspoon Annatto (for color)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Cheese:
- Begin by preparing your cultured milk into cheese. Follow any standard cheese-making process to transform the milk, including adding enzymes and Annatto for flavor and color.
- Once the cheese curds have formed, drain off the whey and gently press the curds into a compact, solid block.
2. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This will ensure the cheese crisps cook evenly and achieve perfect crispiness.
3. Slice the Cheese:
- Using a sharp knife or cheese slicer, cut the cheese block into thin slices, about 1/8 inch thick. The thinner the slice, the crispier the final product will be.
4. Season the Slices:
- Lay the cheese slices out on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Lightly sprinkle each slice with salt for added flavor.
5. Bake the Crisps:
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven.
- Bake for approximately 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese slices bubble and develop a golden-brown color. Keep a close eye on them to avoid burning.
6. Cool and Serve:
- Remove the crisps from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes.
- Once cooled, they will harden and become crisp.
- Transfer to a serving platter and enjoy as a crunchy, savory snack.
