Savory Sauteed Brussels Sprouts with Balsamic Glaze

Ingredients

- 1 pound Brussels sprouts, halved
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

Instructions

1. Prepare the Brussels Sprouts:
Wash and trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts, then cut them in half.

2. Heating the Pan:
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil. Allow it to heat until it shimmers, about 2 minutes.

3. Saute the Brussels Sprouts:
Place the Brussels sprouts cut-side down in the skillet, ensuring they are in a single layer. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

4. Initial Cooking:
Let the Brussels sprouts cook undisturbed for about 5 minutes, or until they begin to caramelize and develop a golden crust on the cut side.

5. Add Butter and Turn:
Add the butter to the skillet. Using a spatula, turn the Brussels sprouts, ensuring they are well-coated in the melted butter. Cook for an additional 3 minutes.

6. Balsamic Reduction:
Reduce the heat to low. Add the balsamic vinegar to the pan, stirring to coat the Brussels sprouts evenly. Continue cooking for 2 minutes until the vinegar thickens slightly into a glaze.

7. Final Touch:
Once thoroughly glazed and tender, remove the Brussels sprouts from the heat. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

8. Serve:
Transfer the Brussels sprouts to a serving dish and enjoy them warm.
