Savory Wasabi-Crusted Ahi Tuna with Green Onion Garnish
Ingredients
- 4 (6-ounce) ahi tuna steaks
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon wasabi paste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup green onions, thinly sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Preparation (PT10M; 10 minutes):
- Rinse the ahi tuna steaks under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce and wasabi paste until well combined.
- Lightly brush this mixture over both sides of each tuna steak.
- Season each steak with a pinch of salt and pepper.
2. Cooking (PT10M; 10 minutes):
- Heat the olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Once the oil is shimmering, carefully place the tuna steaks in the skillet.
- Sauté the first side for about 2-3 minutes, until a golden crust forms.
- Flip the tuna steaks and sauté the other side for another 2-3 minutes for medium-rare doneness. Cook longer if preferred well-done.
- Remove the tuna from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for 2 minutes.
3. Serving:
- Slice the tuna steaks into 1/4-inch thick slices.
- Arrange the slices onto a serving platter or individual plates.
- Sprinkle the green onions generously over the top as a fresh garnish.
