Sizzling Beef Stir Fry with Peppers and Honey Ginger Glaze
Ingredients
- 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons canola oil, divided
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons mirin
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
1. Prepare the Beef:
Coat the sliced beef sirloin with cornstarch in a bowl, ensuring even coverage. This will help to tenderize the meat and create a crispy exterior.
2. Mix the Sauce:
In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, honey, mirin, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Stir until well blended to create the glaze.
3. Heat the Oil:
Heat 1 tablespoon of canola oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
4. Cook the Beef:
Add the beef to the skillet in a single layer, cooking for about 3-4 minutes, or until browned and slightly crispy. Make sure to do this in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan. Transfer the cooked beef to a plate.
5. Stir-fry the Vegetables:
Add the remaining tablespoon of canola oil to the same pan. Toss in the green bell pepper, red bell pepper, and onion. Stir-fry for approximately 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
6. Add Garlic and Return Beef:
Add the minced garlic to the vegetables and stir for an additional 30 seconds. Return the beef to the skillet.
7. Combine with Glaze:
Pour the prepared honey ginger glaze over the beef and vegetables. Stir well to coat everything evenly. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens and coats the ingredients.
8. Garnish:
Remove the pan from heat. Sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
