Sizzling Smoked Paprika Bacon & Cabbage Delight
Ingredients
- 1 medium head of green cabbage, roughly chopped
- 8 ounces thick-cut bacon, diced
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the Bacon:
- Place a large skillet over medium heat and add the diced bacon.
- Cook for approximately PT10M (10 minutes), stirring occasionally, until the bacon becomes crispy and golden brown.
- Once cooked, remove the bacon using a slotted spoon and set aside. Leave the rendered bacon fat in the skillet.
2. Sauté the Onions:
- Add the sliced onion to the hot skillet with the bacon fat.
- Sauté the onions for about PT6M (6 minutes) on medium heat until they are translucent and starting to caramelize.
3. Caramelize the Cabbage:
- Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet with the onions.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar over the cabbage and stir well to coat.
- Season with smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Cook on medium heat for PT15M (15 minutes), stirring occasionally until cabbage is tender and slightly browned.
4. Combine and Serve:
- Return the crispy bacon bits to the skillet, mixing them into the caramelized cabbage and onion mixture.
- Allow everything to cook together for another PT2M (2 minutes) to incorporate flavors.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary before serving.
