Slow-Cooked BBQ Country-Style Pork Ribs
Ingredients
Dry Rub:
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
BBQ Sauce:
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons honey mustard
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
Main:
- 3 pounds boneless country-style pork ribs
- 1/2 cup apple juice
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dry Rub:
In a small bowl, combine kosher salt, brown sugar, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, smoked paprika, thyme, ground cumin, and nutmeg. Mix until evenly combined.
2. Season the Ribs:
Pat the pork ribs dry with a paper towel. Rub the dry spice mixture all over the ribs, ensuring each piece is well coated. Let the ribs sit for 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
3. Prepare the BBQ Sauce:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, honey, honey mustard, Worcestershire sauce, molasses, oil, and liquid smoke until smooth.
4. Assemble in the Crock Pot:
Place the seasoned pork ribs in the bottom of the crock pot. Pour the apple juice evenly over the ribs. Generously coat the ribs with half of the prepared BBQ sauce, reserving the rest for serving.
5. Slow Cook the Ribs:
Cover the crock pot with its lid. Cook on low heat for 6 hours or until the ribs are tender and juicy, falling apart with a fork.
6. Finish and Serve:
Preheat your oven to 400°F. Transfer the cooked ribs to a baking sheet lined with foil. Brush with the reserved BBQ sauce. Roast in the preheated oven for 10 minutes to caramelize the sauce.
7. Plate and Garnish:
Allow the ribs to rest for a few minutes before serving. Slice into portions and enjoy this delectable dish with your choice of sides.
