Spiced Pear and Apple Cranberry Crumble
Ingredients
- For the Fruit Filling:
- 2 ripe pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- 1 cup apple cider
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon fresh sage, finely chopped
- For the Crumble Topping:
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. Prepare the Fruit Filling:
- In a crock pot, combine sliced pears, apples, and dried cranberries.
- Add apple cider, cinnamon stick, maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and fresh sage. Stir gently to combine and coat the fruit evenly with the spices and liquids.
2. Prepare the Crumble Topping:
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine chopped pecans, flour, oats, brown sugar, butter, and a pinch of salt.
- Use your hands or a pastry cutter to mix until the ingredients resemble a coarse crumbly mixture.
3. Assemble and Cook:
- Evenly sprinkle the crumble topping over the fruit mixture in the crock pot.
- Cover the crock pot and set it to low heat. Cook for approximately PT4H (4 hours) or until the fruit is tender and the topping is golden and crisp.
4. Serve:
- Once done, remove the cinnamon stick. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
