Spiced Pear Medley Crisp
Ingredients
- 2 Bosc pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 Anjou pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 Bartlett pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground anise
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Prepare the Pears:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced Bosc, Anjou, and Bartlett pears. Set them aside as you prepare the topping.
3. Make the Crisp Topping:
- In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, nutmeg, anise, ginger, and cardamom.
- Cut the butter into small cubes and add it to the dry ingredients.
- Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to blend the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Assemble the Crisp:
- Sprinkle the cornstarch over the sliced pears to coat them evenly.
- Transfer the pears to a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Evenly distribute the crumb topping over the pears, ensuring all pear slices are covered.
5. Bake:
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the pears are tender.
6. Serve:
Allow the crisp to cool for a few minutes before serving. It pairs wonderfully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
