Spicy Asian Peanut Stir-Fry Sauce



Ingredients



- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 piece (1-inch) ginger, grated
- 3 green onions, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup light tamari or soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1/4 cup smooth peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Chinese Five Spice
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil

1. Prepare Aromatics:
- Mince the garlic cloves and grate the ginger. Chop the green onions and set everything aside.

2. Mix Sauce Base:
- In a medium bowl, combine light tamari or soy sauce, maple syrup, molasses, and peanut butter. Stir until smooth and well blended.

3. Add Heat and Flavor:
- Incorporate gochujang into the sauce base, mixing thoroughly to ensure an even distribution of heat.

4. Enhance with Vinegar and Spice:
- Stir in the rice wine vinegar and Chinese Five Spice, blending it well for added depth and aroma.

5. Thicken the Sauce:
- Dissolve cornstarch in 1 tablespoon of water. Add this slurry to the sauce mixture, stirring continuously.

6. Sauté Aromatics:
- Heat sesame oil in a pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for 1–2 minutes or until fragrant.

7. Combine and Simmer:
- Pour the prepared sauce into the pan with the sautéed aromatics. Simmer on low heat for 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently until thickened.

8. Finish and Serve:
- Stir in the chopped green onions just before removing from heat. The sauce is ready to elevate your stir-fry dishes as a rich, flavorful topping.
