Spicy Korean-Style Stir Fry Sauce
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons mirin
- 1 teaspoon Chinese Five Spice
- 1 tablespoon sambal oelek chili paste
- 1 tablespoon gochujang
Instructions
1. Prepare the Sauce:
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine 1/2 cup of soy sauce, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar, and 2 tablespoons of mirin. Whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved.
2. Add the Aromatics and Spice:
- Stir in 2 tablespoons of sesame oil, 1 teaspoon of Chinese Five Spice, 1 tablespoon of sambal oelek chili paste, and 1 tablespoon of gochujang. Mix thoroughly to ensure all ingredients are well-integrated, creating a smooth, spicy, and slightly sweet sauce.
3. Taste and Adjust:
- Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary. You may want to add a bit more soy sauce for saltiness or extra sugar for sweetness.
4. Stir Fry Dish Assembly:
- Once the sauce is ready, add it to your choice of pre-stir-fried vegetables and protein (such as chicken, beef, or tofu) in a wok or large frying pan over medium-high heat. Stir consistently for about 3-5 minutes until everything is well-coated and heated through.
5. Serve:
- Serve hot over a bed of steamed jasmine rice or noodles, garnished with chopped green onions or sesame seeds for an enhanced presentation.
