Stove-Top Braised Chicken with Better Than Bouillon
Ingredients
- 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Better Than Bouillon Chicken Base
- 1 cup water
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup carrots, sliced into half-inch pieces
- 1 cup celery, sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
Instructions
1. Prepare the Chicken:
- Pat the chicken thighs dry with a paper towel.
- Season the thighs with salt and black pepper on both sides.
2. Sear the Chicken:
- Place a large stove-top skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add olive oil and heat until shimmering.
- Carefully add chicken thighs, skin-side down, to the skillet.
- Sear for about 5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
3. Sauté the Aromatics:
- In the same skillet, add sliced onion and minced garlic.
- Sauté for 3-4 minutes until onions are translucent and fragrant.
4. Prepare the Braising Liquid:
- Add the Better Than Bouillon Chicken Base and water to the skillet.
- Stir well to dissolve the bouillon in the liquid.
5. Combine Ingredients:
- Return the seared chicken thighs to the skillet, skin-side up.
- Add the carrots, celery, and dried thyme.
- Adjust the heat to medium-low and cover the skillet with a lid.
6. Braise the Chicken:
- Let the chicken cook gently on the stove for about 30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.
7. Serve:
- Remove the skillet from heat.
- Garnish the dish with fresh parsley before serving.
- Serve hot with your choice of sides, such as rice or crusty bread.
